○Brockenhurst1–3Andover Town

Away from the Portway this was arguably Andover Town’s best performance of the season.Despite missing a first half penalty they never really looked as if they would return home empty handed. Man of the match Reece Rusher scored two and extended his goal tally to three from his last two appearances & Zach Glasspool scored the other. Alex Dockree came into the starting line up, replacing the suspended Lewis Gilbert and Carlo Santoro was handed his first start of the season in place of Harrison Fay who has moved to Blackfield and Langley. Despite heavy overnight rain the pitch survived a morning inspection but remained heavy throughout and Andover appeared to make light of the conditions more so than the home side.

After a couple of half chances for the home side Andover took an early lead. Brockenhurst goalkeeper Callum Maher did well to block a Zac Glasspool pile driver but the rebound came back to Reece Rusher who fired home from the edge of the area. However, Brockenhurst were back on terms within four minutes when Joe Chamberlin found space in a crowded goal area to poke the ball over the line. Within a minute of the restart Glasspool was adjudged to have been tripped inside the area.The decision to award a penalty was debateable but justice was done when Maher saved Santafe –Vivo’s spot kick, and Andover’s penalty Hoodoo continues. Despite this setback Andover remained the better side. Liam Hibberd shaved the crossbar with a long range effort and only a superlative save by Maher prevented Dockree scoring. Santafe replicated Hibberd’s effort before on the cusp of half time Town took the lead again when following excellent work by Shane Lock, Zach Glasspool netted from close range.

Brockenhurst started the second half with ten men, after Ryan Long was red carded during the interval following an altercation as the players left the field at the end of the first period. Through out the second half Andover made good use of their numerical advantage but remained wary when the home side were able to play inside the Andover half. However the final nail in their coffin came midway through the half. Glasspool’s perfectly weighted pass bisected the Brock defence and found Reece Rusher to ran on to slot in the all important third Goal. Late on there were further chances for Rusher,Lock and Lerone Plummer to double the scoreline but Andover had done enough to extend their mini unbeaten record to four games.
