Alresford Town 5–1 Andover Town

Andover Town went out of the BSA Regal Hampshire Senior Cup as they suffered their first ever defeat by Alresford Town. Whilst The Magpies deserved their victory the final scoreline was a little harsh considering the commitment shown by a much changed Andover side. Compared to the previous match Andover made eight changes to their starting line up. The changes included debuts for Joe Chamberlain and Kieran McHardy and a first start of the season for Edu Jimenez.

Alresford were quick out of the blocks and opened their account after eight minutes. Steve Hall collected the ball just inside his own half and ran on virtually unchallenged to score with a low shot from the edge of the area.Little was being seen of Andover as an attacking force but Shane Lock manage one effort on target that did not cause Kempson in the home goal much concern. Andover's McHardy was kept busy saving well twice in quick succession before an Alresford strike hit a post. Andover finally got back into the game as Jason Silver’s pace took him clear of a square defence before placing a firm shot into the net.

After ten minutes play in the second half Alresford scored twice leaving Andover with a mountain to climb. After McHardy dealt well with a thirty yard volley a well worked passing routine left Aaron Blaxell an easy task to score the Magpies second.A few minutes later Matthew Andrews grabbed the the decisive third goal after two previous were cleared off the line. Both Alex Dockree and Chamberlain went close but the Magpies Defence were giving little away. Alresford went on to score twice in the final minute and secure their place in the next round, whilst Andover have two further cup ties next to get their season back on track.
