Andover Town 2–0 Totton & Eling

Andover Town secured their first victory of the season in the first league game of the year. Pitching the bottom two teams of last years Sydenhams Wessex Division One, this years game was very different. Both sides proved more competitive although the quality in the final third for both sides was lacking. However, it was Andover who grabbed an early advantage through Joshua Bertie who latched on to a through ball to fire across Totton’s keeper in the far side netting. The rest of the first half proved a stalemate with both sides cancelling one another out. Adam Pattison stood out on his debut, sweeping behind on the odd time Totton threatened to get in behind Town’s high line.

The second half resembled the first. A couple of changes opened up the game. Higgins, Major and Morgan all contributed when they came on although it was Aidan O’Kelly, a summer signing, who sealed the victory before he came off. Coincidentally, this time last year Town lost 10-1.
