Andover Town 3–2 Shaftesbury

Andover came into this Wessex League Cup match as the underdogs, facing Shaftesbury from the Wessex Premier League. The home supporters where probably expecting the worse as Shepherd for the visitors struck a goal in the first minute. However, Town had beaten teams from the Premier League in pevious rounds and with 20 minutes on the clock, Town were awarded a penalty when Morris was fouled. Skipper Holmes duly disptached the kick to give Town the equaliser. Feeling around the ground probably felt that the game was going back again as eight minutes later Pope put Shaftesbury ahead again. The score reamined the same at half time.

Into the second half with just under ten minutes gone, David Jerrard put Town on level terms again. The match generally was toing & froing with the match in the balance. Then with just over 20 minutes left Andover's fortunes turned when they won a corner. Captain Holmes took the corner and the cross was turned by the vistors defence for an own goal. Town saw the game out and much to their delight landed a semi-final place.

The semi-final will be against Baffins Milton Rovers on 21st March and the match will be at the Portway !!
