Petersfield Town 0–1 Andover Town

The Rams were defeated by a single goal to a strong Andover Town team (who included new signing Deven Twigg in goal & the return of Ryan Griffiths) in the sweltering heat last Saturday.

The home keeper Jordi Wilson did well early on, coming out against Ryan Griffiths, he tried to go around the keeper but a low dive for ball was spot on as he won it. Lewis Williams proved the be thorn in the hosts side, he grabbed the match winner in the 27th minute. Great diagonal ball from the defender into the box where Williams another striker and Wilson in goal went for the ball, good touch from Williams followed by a shot into the bottom corner. Six minutes later and Williams was in again, going past Kieran Alcock which has proved to be a rare occasion, then shooting low and hard heading for the corner but it was parried away from Wilson. Five minutes before half time a free kick was the first real chance for Petersfield, Connor Hoare cross field ball into the box where Josh Rose was first in line, free header came off his shoulder and was no threat.

Moving into the second half, a long throw in by Brendon Holmes bounced over Josh Rose who was marking the striker and onto Ben Emans who took a touch inside and the shot came off the outside of the post. With many drink breaks breaking up play there wasn’t a lot momentum but the Rams had a few late chances for an equaliser, Christian Bennett saw his long shot almost squirm under Twigg but he eventually held it. Going later into the game Matt Dougan had a fierce shot well blocked again by Twigg all though he was offside and then into stoppage time panic in the area as Mino Djaura had a shot blocked with the keeper stranded. The Rams couldn’t find an equaliser and their trip to Fleet Spurs on Tuesday will be their third attempt for victory.
