Andover Town visited a sunny Westwood Park on the Isle of Wight to face Cowes Sports, hoping to complete the double over The Yachtsmen. Andover Town made two changes from the side that started the match against Lymington Town with Ross Gregory returning to the centre of defence, which meant Liam Gilbert moving to his normal role in midfield and Alex Dockree wearing the number 10 shirt in place of the injured Adam Grange, with Aaron Nesbeth replacing Reece Rusher.

The game started with the visitors showing early intentions. Andover had an early chance when a free kick by Javier Santafe-Vivo just eluded Alex Dockree, minutes later a cross from Sammy Pekun found Zach Glasspool but his header was cleared. The chances were starting to come for Andover and a free kick by Liam Gilbert was well held by Ed Hatt. Another cross from Pekun that Glasspool just failed to connect with. With ten minutes gone, Cowes had their first attack when a cross from the left was put behind for a corner by Connor Cocklin but from the resultant corner Jason Malcolmson hit his shot well wide. Andover responded when a free kick by Gilbert was headed just over the bar by Glasspool. The breakthrough finally came when Aidan Bryan who was being put under pressure by Glasspool attempted a pass back to Hatt but found Sammy Pekun instead, who drilled the ball home to give Andover a deserved lead. A minute later another defensive error let in Shane lock on the left who squared the ball to Zach Glasspool who fired into an empty net. Cowes, however, reduced the deficit when a long ball over the top found Jordan Brown who lobbed it over the on rushing Jarid Hixon into the net. Just before halftime Sammy Pekun cut in from the left and his well struck shot hit the diving Hatt’s legs and went behind for a corner, from the resulting corner Connor Cocklin headed just over the bar.

Andover went into the half time break deservedly 2-1 ahead.

Cowes started the second half strongly and forced an early corner and from the corner the ball was headed in to the back of the net but the referee awarded a free kick for a foul on Hixon. Cowes continued to press and had a series of shots on goal first John Mckie shot over then Jordan Browns attempt was saved by Hixon, Finlay Phillips shot was easily saved by Hixon then John Mckie went through on goal and tried to lob Hixon but the keeper caught the ball, then the defining point of the match came on the hour when Zach Glasspool teed up Alex Dockree to smash the ball into the net to restore Andover’s two goal cushion, this deflated the home side and the contest was over. Andover had another chance to increase their lead when a free kick from Javier Santafe-Vivo rattled the crossbar and the ball fell to Glasspool who fired over the bar. In the 84th minute Dockree and Nesbeth exchanged passes before Aaron Nesbeth swept the ball home for his first goal for Andover Town. Cowes had a late rally when they forced three corners but they were easily dealt with by the Andover defence. The visitors finished the game by forcing three corners of their own in quick succession but they could not add to their goal tally. At the final whistle, Andover Town completed the double over Cowes and move up to thirteenth place in the league table.
